Taking the shortest way to the Old Town Square from the lower part of Wenceslas Square, you will find yourself at a point where Melantrich Street is suddenly turning right. There, on your left side, right in the heart of the Old Town, just steps from the Prague Astronomical Clock, you will find a beautiful old townhouse called „The Blue Ship“, wedged between the houses „Holy Three Kings“ and „Five Crowns“.
Even the world-renowned composer Josef Mysliveček, Mozart's friend and the most famous resident, entered the beautifully carved Renaissance door to the house.
Originally a Gothic building, towering over a spacious vaulted basement, was rebuilt in the Renaissance style at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Further distinctive building modifications were made in the Classicist style. The present appearance of the facade is late Baroque.
However, as you will soon find out, even in this historic gem protected as a cultural monument, you do not have to give up the highest demands on a comfortable and modern living.
On top of the roofs of magical Prague, behind the front shield with a statue of St. Florian, who according to tradition protects the building against the fire, you will find a completely renovated three-floor duplex apartment that fully honours the local genius loci.
The entrance door will lead you to a small hall with built-in wardrobes and a chamber. The domination of this apartment is a generously designed living room, which together with the kitchen and the dining room forms a large space with a total area of 62 m2.
At the first sight, you can enjoy a high ceiling with visible original beams, a fireplace and a unique view of the Old Town Hall. The room is illuminated by remote-controlled roof windows that automatically respond to rain. Even in the hottest summer days you do not have to worry about the heat, the whole apartment is air-conditioned. The adjacent room has access to a large terrace facing the quiet courtyard, which is perfect for a summer barbecue or a pleasant morning coffee. This floor has also a modern bathroom with a bathtub, toilet and a technical room.
When you walk up the grand wooden stairs, you will find a room with a small dressing chamber and another bathroom with a bathtub and toilet. After three steps, you can walk into the valley between the roofs and enjoy romantic views of the streets of old Prague. The top floor consists of a smaller attic room that can be used, for example, as a study.
Situated in one of the Prague's most precious locations, right in historic centre with excellent transport accessibility, surrounded by luxury restaurants, exclusive shops and countless possibilities for cultural activities, „The Blue Ship“ house provides a calm place for even the most demanding clients.
